Authentication Configuration for Admin Application

Optionally allow platform admins to log in with email / password or enforce SSO-enable login

Updated over 4 months ago

Before you start

Identify what log in option you want to use for your Adaptive company.

  • Email + Password

  • Google OIDC / SSO

  • Microsoft OIDC / SSO

  • Okta OIDC / SSO

  • SAML SSO

Default behavior for Admin Login

Once your email is added as an Admin record, we automatically enable logging in with a Google or Microsoft account tied to that email address. You do not need to do any setup as is relates to Google or Microsoft OIDC authentication to admin.adaptivesecurity.com as our application is automatically created when you go through the flow the first time.

By default, your account for admin.adaptivesecurity.com DOES NOT allow you to log in with an email + password.

When you click on the link in your account invite email, you can use the Google and Microsoft OIDC (SSO) tied to the email address that was added as an admin. After that you can change the configuration for Admin login based on the sections below.

If you want to log in with an option other than Microsoft or Google OIDC

You have two options:

  1. Log in with Microsoft or Google OIDC and then navigate to the 'Authentication' section of the 'Settings' menu from the left side navigation (as mentioned above)

  2. Reach out to your Adaptive POC or [email protected] and we can enable your account to allow for email + password log in

Managing email + password login

If you want to make a change to the setting that allows for email + password login to be available for admin.adaptivesecurity.com, follow the steps below:

1. Log in to your Adaptive admin account

2. Navigate to 'Settings' in the left side navigation and then select the 'Authentication' tab

3. Click the '+ Add Option' button in the Admin Portal section and select the Password method

4. Click 'Add Option' in the bottom right side of the modal

Setting up Okta OIDC or SAML

Once you've logged in via one of the methods above, you also have the option to enabled Okta OIDC or SAML as a log in mechanism for admin.adaptivesecurity.com.

Follow the steps in our Okta Admin OIDC guide here or SAML setup here.
